Hooking up front USB ports

I am installing a Giga-byte motherboard in an Antec SLK2600 case with front USB. The cables coming from the front USB ports on the case are +5, D-, D+, Gnd, Gnd. There are two sets, one for USB1 and the other for USB2. I looked at the diagram in the manual but am a little confused.

My question is how do I hook them up to the motherboard. The motherboard header is as follows:

[power] [Dy-] [Dy+] [GND] [USB Over Current]

[power] [Dx-] [Dx+] [GND] [no pin]

How do I do this?

Just like it says. the +5 is the power, and you put the USB accordingly - to + then the ground is the last one. Don't worry abotu that left over pin, that is jsut there so that you don't put the plug that came with your mobo is the wrong way.

You can do whatever you want to the front USB connectors, like glueing them in that order, or jsut putting them on accordingly.

Are the USB cords split into 2 sets? If they aren't I don't think that it will amtter which power goes to waht as they are the same amount. the D's indicate which USB port they stand for. So I guess Dx would be the first port and Dy would be the second. So the connectors should go:

[+5][USB1-][USB1+][ground]
[+5][USB2-][USB2+][ground]

If that does not work with one, try reversing the direction from right to left. But I'm pretty sure it goes from left to right.

The diagram I put is for one USB channel. There are two separate headers for each USB1 and USB2.

I am not sure what Dx and Dy signify.

I have done this with my 8RDA+.

Are there just 2 usb on the front of the case?

power is normally RED.

USB #1 usually goes like this :

RED (+), White (Data - ), Green (Data + ), Black (ground)

you simply match the USB connector to the pins on the board. Remember - to - and + to +.

the extra pin on both is usually reserved for proper orientation. Do not connect anything to those 2 pins.

The Dx and Dy just signify USB #1 and #2.

There are just two USB connectors on the front of the case. I can understand what you are saying and I assumed that Dx was for one and Dy for the other. I just cannot understand why both motherboard headers can accept two USB connections.

Whatever the reason, I got my answer before hearing a peep from tech support.

All the reason why I make Anand my daily read.
