hooking up a xm radio to my pc?

i am not sure this is the place for my question but here it goes...
i hooked up my xm radio to my pc,i used the audio in on the rear of my case. so far its working fine but i am trying to record real time music to my hard drive and also use window media player as a player .right now all i get is music and there is no program playing my music ,seens to me that is going in (audio in ) and out(audio out)not software in between .any idea how to set this up so i can use wmp and eq this audio in.thanks
