hooking up a wireless router to a dsl modem/router

I have a speedstream 5200? series dsl modem/router. I want to hook up my speedstream wireless router. when I bring the cat5 from the dsl modem to the router, I plug it into the WAN port on the wireless router. When I go into the config for the wireless router, I see that the address from the dsl modem is there, but none of the clients on the wired or wireless side can see the internet. has anyone else had experience with this, and if so, how did it get resolved? thanks in advance.

My dsl modem is also a router. when I plug a computer into it, I get a private address, not an externally routable address. and my wireless is also a router. you can pm me with any other questions.

thanks JackMDS, I will try this when I get home and let you know how it all works out. if anyone else has suggestions, please post them, I am always looking for different ways of doing things.
