Ok I apologize if this problem has already been posted, I'm a newbie, have mercy! My IDE DVD burner went out, so I ordered a new one, not realizing it was a SATA. So then I find out SATA is the new standard and you can't even find IDE burners anymore. Fine, then I'll just get a converter. So I got an IDE to SATA converter, but the IDE cable has a female end and so does the converter. I found 40 to 40 pin IDE male to male connectors but my IDE cable is one of the 80 pin wire cables with the connection looking like it's 39 pins since the middle hole is blocked. So what do I do to make this work? Do they make a 39 to 40 pin male to male connector?
I suppose I could take everything back and just get a PCI SATA card, but how do I find out if my mobo supports SATA?
