I already have the necessary hard-ware to hook my sound system upto a PS2 but I am wondering how would I go about to hook up my DVI monitor to a PS2, so I could view my game through my computer monitor?

What imputs does your monitor have other than DVI? S-video? Composite?
Just get an S-video or composite cable and that should do it!

You could use a VGA box running into a VGA-> DVI converter. Assuming that all the games you run are then 60Hz (and im guessing your from the USA ;) you should be ok).

It wont look great though, itll look a lot more pixelated than on a TV. Make sure you get a decent vga box for the best quality picture.

Of course you're going to have to use a DVI->VGA converter with it. It comes free with a lot of monitors/video cards if you bought your them yourself and it wasn't part of a PC package.

You cannot go from a VGA source to a DVI input without some expensive transcoder box. Those adapters you get from video cards only go from a DVI-I or DVI-A output port to a VGA output port.

This works because certain pins in DVI-I and DVI-A spec contains the signals in a VGA port so the adapter just reroutes the already existing signals in a nice little package. This allowed for backwards compatibility when using DVI on video cards to VGA on monitors.

It's a completely different story when trying to use VGA signals in a DVI input.
