Hooking up a new DVD player and stereo speakers to an older TV?

I have an older 21" mono TV that does not have RCA inputs. If I buy a new DVD player, will I need a converter to hook it up? Also, I have 2 sets of stereo speakers and I'd like to hook up one of the sets to my DVD player. One set of speakers is barewire and the other set uses RCA. Would newer DVD players have amplified audio out ports? Would I need extra equipment? Thanks.

There are multiple types of output available from DVD players. Some may have supervideo connectors, component video connectors, coaxial RF output (TNC), and coaxial (RCA) or optical audio output in addition to standard analog audio/video output via RCA jacks.

Your TV will usually have some type of connector which is compatible.

Sorry, analog audio output is always 1Vp-p, or non-amplified but a line out level and digital output is according to digital line out specs. Coaxial (RF via TNC) is neither analog audio (RCA) or digital audio (RCA coaxial or optical), but modulated with an RF frequency.
