Hooking up a Kinect. Power cord needed?

So I have an Xbox 360 that's less than a year old. I don't know what model or revision or anything it is but am just trying to figure out what I need if I pick up a used Kinect.

I keep seeing things mentioning the power cord and whether or not I need one or not which is my question.

Is it just original Xbox's that need the separate power cord or is there a chance mine would as well? I'm looking on eBay and Craigslist and many say it's the Kinect only so I just want to make sure that's all I need.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

No. Just plug in the DisplayPort-like cable to the slim 360. The older XBOX required a Kinect-to-USB adapter that also provided power through the AC adapter. The Slim provides power through said DisplayPort-like port.

As stated above, if your 360 has the Kinect port (labeled AUX), like this picture shows, then you don't need the extra power cable.
