I just purchased a Samsung 22" hdtv monitor and want to hook it up to my compuer as well as fios cable to watch tv.

I was told that i have to get a tuner and put it in my computer which i can do if i need to.

Why wouldn't i just be able to put a splitter on the cable going to my router and send it to my top box and to my monitor, with a separate dvi cable going from my computer to the monitor and switch between the two?

Would that work?

Seems more simple than to get a tv tuner and put it in the computer since the hdtv monitor already has a tuner in it, or is their a better idea?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Is your screen an HDTV, including its own tuner, or just a monitor that requires a tuner to watch off the air, generic cable, etc.? If it has a tuner, most new flat panel TV's have VGA and HDMI or DVI inputs.

If all you want is to view content from your computer, such as DVD's and video files, you should be able to connect your computer to the TV and select the computer as a source from the TV's input menu.

The monitor will connect to your FIOS box. The Box will be the tuner so your PC doesn't need one.
