Hooking a TV to my PC

When I hook up my TV to my PC, 1280X1024 is so large that the screen scrolls around on my TV with the mouse cursor. In order to get the TV to display the whole screen, I have to set everything to 1024X768. Is there any way to set a different resolution for the TV so I can still run 1280X1024 on my monitor?

'course. Don't set clone mode, use independent dualhead instead. In XP, you simply enable the 2nd monitor right on the front page of Display Properties.
The physical resolution is best set to 640x480 for NTSC TV.
