Hooking a TV out video card to a tv

I'm trying ot hook my Geforce3 w/ TV Out video card to my TV. I have a s-video cord going from my video card into a s-video/RCA convter, then an RCA video cord going from the converter to the TV (THe guy at radio shack says this setup will work, he said he does it himself). I put the TV on the video channel and all I see if a black screen. What else do I need to do to get it to work? Thanks!
