Hooking a phone up to HDTV-

Has anyone hooked a Samsung S5 to an HDTV via the official adapter? I was curious if it allowed a Flixster movie to go through the HDMI. I know physically it should be able to, but I'm worried there might be some copyright walls that block it. IE: I can't watch HD Ultraviolet versions of movies via Flixster on my computer but I can on my phone.
 
I know, it sucks, the time warner app wont allow me to connect phone or tablet to connect to tv hdmi, sucks... I am sure MOST if not all apps have that limitation.

never tried S5 though, to answer you question.

Why must they make legitimate, paying users suffer!?!?
