I assume this is the proper place to post this sorry if it's not.

I plan on buying a portable dvd player with a composite video in, I was wondering if it's possible to hook my laptop up to it like this:

Laptop>S-video out>S-video to composite adapter>plugs into composite video in on the portable dvd player.

Is this possible or am I nuts?

Thank you.

I guess I don't understand why you'd want to do this, but yeah this should work.

Make sure the DVD player you're getting has composite IN and not OUT.

If your laptop can do composite out, it should come with an adapter or tell you the kind you need. There are different kinds of "s-video" to composite adapters since not all these "s-video" outputs have the same pins.

You'll be limited to 480i output from this.

Thank you :) . I already have a S-video cable and an adapter, I've had them for a few months and have used the laptop while hooked up to a CRT TV to watch videos.
Hopefully hooking my laptop up to a dvd player is as easy as hooking it up to my tv.
