I have an old surround sound receiver which has 5.1 input jacks which are used to input decoded Dolby Digital AC-3 audio signals. My question is if I buy an Audigy2 ZS would I be able to listen to DVDs played on my computer in Dolby digital surround through my receiver?

The receiver I have is a Sony STR-DE715, I only have onboard sound now coming from my 8RDA3+ mainboard. The receiver does not have any optical inputs only the analog 5.1 input.

I would like to keep the setup how it is currently with the exception of having to purchase a new sound card.

Any help is appreciated

Yes, you can listen to DD, DTS and DVD-Audio tracks using the A2 ZS via the 5.1 analog connection.
