Hook up laptop to TV

I have a laptop that I would like to use for the purpose of showing pictures/videos and possibly watching online content on my TV. The only output I have on the laptop for display is VGA, no DVI or s-video. My TV (Sony Trinitron KV-36HS510) just has a DVI-HDTV connection.

What the best way of doing this? From reading around, it sounds like I need an expensive convertor to take the VGA from my laptop and convert it to a digital signal for the TV. Is there a cable that could do this? I don't want to spend a lot of money and I'm unsure of all the options I have.

Thanks, that's the cheapest I've seen on a converter.

Would I then need this then to convert my TV from DVI to HDMI?

Use a VGA to component cable. In Windows use PowerStrip or the program for your graphics card to create a component video signals from VGA. Set the VGA into component mode before connecting the cable. This way has no conversion and it is the cheapest.

The highest resolution will be 1080i.
