Hook up DVD player through Comcast box?

Is it possible to hook up a DVD player through a Comcast box? The TV I have only has one DVI input and no Component.

Depends on the Comcast box but I don't think so. Basically what you''re going to need on the back of the Comcast box is some form of HD input whether it's a DVI in, HDMI in, or Component in. I don't think most cable boxes do pass through. You'd need some sort of DVI splitter or switch to let you hook up more than one DVI source to the same input on the monitor/tv.
 
that's a weird tv, dvi was considered kinda 'high-end' before hdmi came out so odd that a tv would have just 1 DVI and no component. Do you have an audio receiver? if it does hdmi switching then get an hdmi->dvi converter for a few bucks from monoprice and use your receiver as the switch.

This is sorta what I was thinking. I was planning on hooking audio up straight to some sort of receiver, and getting a video switch that can handle two DVI inputs.

Check out monoprice. I know they sell cheap HDMI switchers. You can get a 4 way HDMI switch with remote for $20 or so.

I'm not sure if they have something for DVI, but HDMI is essentially DVI so you can just get a converter cable.
 
do you have a receiver already? or are you looking to get one just for the audio. if the latter, just go the extra step and make sure it has hdmi switching as well. will prevent you from having to change the receiver and the hdmi switcher every time you switch between cable and DVD.

I don't have any sort of receiver. Why do I want HDMI switching if only DVI is supported on the TV?

The inputs on my speaker are just "front","center","back" (orange,black,green I think), if that helps.
