Hook me up with a great deal on a prebuilt PC.

A friend of mine is asking for advice.
I said 'go with Dell + rebates'.

He needs a complete system, mid range performance.
Any hot Dell deals I'm missing?

Sorry.

No games - his 8 year old daughter might play kids games on it, nothing more but I told him to avoid built-in graphics at all costs anyway.
It's for light home use such as web, mail, some office stuff. No hardcore stuff like programming, video editing, encoding.
I think he's looking to get everything and probably a LCD with it. I guess the LCD is negotiable since he has a monitor already (Samsung 15" CRT, a few years old but still good) but it depends on the deal I guess.

I've told him that too but he like the package deal for some reason.
Anyhow, any decent $300 systems with OS?

people are so dumb...OMFG i have to buy 2 pieces at different places! it is too complicated and stressful!!!!

i know people who wont pay off part of a credit card debt with a lower interest card because then they will have 2 payments per month which means they are paying more...... 😕

I know I know...
I could convince him if I found a nice deal. I told him a 19" LCD with DVI can be had for $300 + change basically.
I am not going to build a system for him.......

OK that is not actually true. I used to have a Compaq for home use and it lasted 5 years without problems.

Let's just drop that part of the discussion.
