Hook external HD up to TV?

I burn a lot of stuff to DVD's so I can go watch them on my TV, but I was thinking lately is there any way to be able to watch stuff off of a external HD and watch it right on the TV!?

Are there any devices or something that you can plug the HD into which in turn plugs into the TV so you can watch the stuff from your HD!?

Also, before anyone says to just use TV-out on my video card, I don't want to do that as that would involve taking my PC into the same room as the TV.

Thanks!

Oh ok cool. I'll have a look into them :)

stuff like WD TV Live Plus will let you play bd and dvd rips. you can even just stream from your computer if you setup the software, there are dlna compliant players too, I just don't remember if the WD is.

Would an external USB HD be able to do what you want? Plug that into the USB port on the TV.
