Hong Kong or Singapore??

So the company I'm really interested in working for this summer has both New York and Asia summer programs. You are allowed to apply to both. Within the Asia program, you can apply to either Hong Kong or Singapore.

Help me decide. Which one in Asia, Hong Kong or Singapore, and why. I've never been to either place. Must decide by Jan 3.

Edit: I speak Mandarin fluently and can speak some basic Cantonese

Edit2: Locale has no impact on what kind of work I'll be doing. Decide based on the geography, nightlife, women, etc

Singapore if you don't want to have fun. spit gum, you get a beating?

hong kong...

i have a friend who is from singapore and working there and he cant stand it (but he is forced to be there for 6 years to pay back the company that sent him to the states for college)

Liked singapore better.. cleaner, nice and friendly people. They speak better english and its a great place overall..Its really small and u could probably cover the whole island in about an hour Lived with my bro who had a 4 bedroom apartment overlooking the beautiful ocean.. so had a great time..

Visited Hong Kong and didnt like it too much...

Cheers

I don't what job field you are in, but Singapore is really getting into the biotech stuff big time so if that is a field that you have interest in, consider that.

Been to Singapore about 14 times and I'm telling you its BORING. NOTHING to do except shopping there. You could go to Orchard road for shopping a zillion times or hit Sun City. Nice modern clean look but otherwise nothing to do there. I've been to Sentosa 3 times since I had nowhere else to go where it was exciting.
If you want a job, go to Hong Kong. Lots to do there and much more culture.

BTW, Singapore is only clean in the main parts. Go towards the north side and its much like any other place.

I would never consider hong kong, but I would love to work in singapore. Very progressive technologically. Not as oppressed artistically or politically.

Go to Singapore.

HK people are a vicious bunch. You don't want to work with them. Especially if you don't speak Cantonese well.

I'm fully fluent in both Cantonese and English, but people raised overseas think differently to the typical HK person...so I still don't really fit in or feel comfortable.

I've been working here in Hong Kong for 9 years now. I've had enough of the place and I'm going back to Australia next month.

Singapore is boring as hell.

In HK you can go shopping. You can go to mainland or Macau with ease.
But I don't think you will be getting any woman if you speak mandarin in HK.
