If you want the very best of jackie chan action-wise (and lots of comedy too) go for Police Story. It's one of the best action movies ever.

Some other quality JC flicks are:
Police Story 2
Wheels on Meals (includes one of the best fight scenes EVER)
Dragons Forever
Drunken Master 1 & 2
Snake in the Eagle's Shadow
Young Master

Other Random movies:
Iron Monkey
Swordsman 2 (the swordplay in this movie will make you crap your pants)
Once Upon a Time in China I & II (stay far away from 3)

"Wing Chun" with Michelle Yeoh is one of my favorite HK action movie. Lots of action, some nice humor and a very sweet romance.

"Progidal Son" with Sammo Hung is a very good HK action movie with some nice humor (it also had some very dark moments too).

My favorite Jackie Chan movie was probably "Operation Condor" -- pretty girls, nice action and some good Jackie humor (it also featured a nude shot of a woman's butt -- I was embarrassed when I saw that with my mom). I only have the english dubbed version though -- I wish I had the Cantonese language version. The best Jackie action movie was probably "Drunken Master 2 -- he moved just like that Drunken Master character in some hit arcade game -- it was very impressive)

I also like "Tai Chi Master" with Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh.

For other types of movies:

"StormRiders" is another one that I also liked. The kung fu isn't so good but I liked the story, the computer generated effects, and the good looking women.

I haven't watched it yet but I've seen bits of "Shaolin Soccer" and it looks like a very funny comedy from Stephan Chow. The special effects were done by the same people who did "StormRiders". Plus, it has another very good looking girl in there.

For romantic comedies, I loved "Needing You" with Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng. I thought Sammi's performance was extremely attractive and appealing.

Blah...here's an old review I wrote for Rossman a while back on "The Killer" and "Hard-Boiled" ---

To start, you're a very lucky guy for owning that 2-pack. I've always been kinda squeamish about paying the premium for DVD's but if I had to do it over again, it would definitely be worth the 42 bucks to own those two. Personally, I own VHS-quality VCD's of John Woo's movies to include Killer, Hard-Boiled, his lighthearted Once a Thief, his darker action/gangster films A Better Tomorrow and A Better Tomorrow II, and his only successfull leap into American film, Face/Off (errr...not counting MI 2).

Both movies are full of action but unless you only see the surface of both films, you'll see that they're very different. Call the pair what you want--opposites, complements...whatever.

Though he made movies prior to 1989, for the most part, The Killer was John Woo's introduction to the world. The two main characters are complete opposites--a cop committed to fighting crime and the criminal he's sworn to take down in the form of Chow-Yun Fat's professional killer. The story is as good as any Shakespearian tragedy and keeps you thinking long after the movie's finished. On the surface, there's good (cop) against bad (killer) but as the movie goes on, the two extremes are grayed together. You'll never hear a discussion regarding whether the action or story was better in this movie because the two are so seamlessly woven together. And just to reiterate, the climax is one of the better action scenes you'll see for a long while.

Hard-Boiled, on the other hand, seems to be Woo's gift to the masses. No doubt, The Killer introduced Hong Kong moviegoers to Woo's mastery of violence as an art and they were hungry for more. Though the story is as good as any American release in recent memory, it requires far less thinking. Nope! No question of whether or not you should cheer for the criminal, no wondering about our meaning in life...nothing.

Hard-Boiled is just one spectacular gun-fight after another followed by something that makes you cheer--like saving a baby or kissing the girl. It might have been a little over the top, a little too Hollywoodish after seeing The Killer. It's perfect for a day when you just wanna see the good guy kick ass (using his trusty sub-machine gun that is as accurate as a sniper rifle and never seems to run out of bullets ) while the bad guys get what's coming to them and everyone ends up happy.

John Woo's Bullet in the Head, the unofficial *real* Better Tomorrow 3 (screw the Tsui Hark one).

City on Fire is a great one too, it was one of Tarantino's inspirations for Resovoir Dogs, you'll know why when you see it. Speaking of inspirations, anyone who likes The Killer should check out the French film Le Samourai, which Woo called the closest thing to a perfect film ever.

<< Young and Dangerous? They have a bunch of those movies... some really good stuff. >>

i second that ... young and dangerous is pretty good series

Young and Dangerous series were dam good. The spinoffs weren't too bad. Portland Street Blues and When We Were Young.

If you like comedy, most of the Stephen Chow movies are always hilaous. The God of Cookery was funny.

God of Gamblers series and spin offs were pretty good also.

Anyone notice that the styles in Tokyo Raiders and Time and Tide are very similar? The movies are kinda difficult to follow since the storytelling is non linear. I'm not surprised that people lose interest within the first 30 minutes. I was resisting the urge to just turn it off. But I like the camera effects, the screen colors, and the overall look. I don't think Kelly Chen looks hot at all. I liked those Japanese assistant chicks, they were so yum!

Michellie Reis is a total hottie. Definitely catch her in Fallen Angels. She wears a lot of short miniskirts and fishnet stockings. There's also 2 scenes where she's having quality time with herself....if ya know what I mean. *hint*
