Me and my lady were discussing where to go on our honeymoon last nite. Came up with a few suggestions between the both of us. Where have some of you gone!! Any ideas? We want to go to someplace real nice, but dont want to be around too much craziness. Just relax and enjoy one another

Budget?

Id say 1000-1500
Gonna be tough to go some place "real nice" for any extended period of time on that, but if it's only going to be a short honeymoon then you could make it work out well.

Door County, WI has some great b&b and suites that would work in that price range. My wife an I went there in January a few years ago for our honeymoon. We got a suite with living room, kitchen, bedroom, whirlpool, and balcony for ~$700 for the week.

End of May, and will only be for a long weekend. 4-5 days or something like that

Perfect place would be Yosemite! The falls are BOOMING that time of year and if you get in before the big Memorial Day weekend rush there's less crowding. Start checking for reservations at the Yosemite Lodge. If that's booked, my (ex)wife and I stayed at the Tenaya Lodge and loved it.

Or, if you can swing it (I know this end in April 2004 but call them and see what they could do) The Ahwahnee is an AMAZING place to stay. $$ but it would be quite memorable.

Ahwahnee main page

Note: The Ahwahnee and the Yosemite Lodge are in the middle of the valley. Tenaya Lodge is maybe a 45 min. - 1 hr drive south of the park (you'd drive up thru the Wawona Tunnel entrance...beautiful view!

if your on the west coast (or there abouts)

consider

Sonoma Mission Inn - very romantic, great spa, visit the wine country (sonoma valley)

Post Ranch Inn (if you have the cash), or The Ventana Inn (Big Sur - also not cheap, but worth it) - UBER romantic..try to get a cabin at the Ventana Inn, it has it's own private terrace/jacuzzi, fireplace in bedroom

you can get a package deal for 3-4 days, airfare and hotel and all meals and drinks to Cancun - real bargin and quite nice

if your on the ast coast - look for some incredible deals right now on airfare to London - probably some package deals that are cheap - transatlantic airfares are down right now (don't know about april)

if your in the midwest- think about florida - sarasota is really nice

toronto is also an easy "foreign" destination to go to for cheap ... you may want to get passport applications made if you don't have'em just in case you go abroad.
