Sounds about right. Time for an affair! 😀

it lasts until you get bored of it, then the challenge really begins to see if you two can actually have a meeting of the minds, start accepting each others' shortcomings and be compatible with each other...

When you are sitting on the toilet taking a healthy one and she comes in to the bathroom and brushes her teeth, the honeymoon is officially over.

LOL! You're even lucky to see 4 months.

Actually, it varies. I think it's anything from 2 months to 1 year (rarely longer). The closer you are to each other physically, the less honeymoon period you'll enjoy. The more distant you're from each other, the longer your honeymoon period.

It's so because when you're distant, you can make believe and think it's all someone else's fault . . . someone who objects to your relationship, for instance. You can also make believe that if you get physically closer, things will get so much tighter between you two. At a distance, it kind of resembles a forbidden love 'cuz you're both struggling to stay closer and are both aiming at reaching each other physically.

On the other hand, those who live with each other everyday can see every single dirt of the other party. It's no longer the fun discussions. It's who's going to do what. Why do you fart in my face, etc. You didn't buy me a gift for my b-day, etc. You get so used to someone so fast and then it doesn't seem that fun anymore. Of course it's fun and lasts for those who are responsible and make effort to work things out.

Edited to say "2 months".

Actually, it varies. I think it's anything from 3 months to 1 year. The closer you are to each other physically, the less honeymoon period you'll enjoy. The more distant you're from each other, the longer your honeymoon period.

Hmm i dont know.. I lived with my husband for a year before we got married. and its been 1 1/2 years now since we have been living together and i still think we are the "playful couple" ppl even say we make them sick because we get along so well.

Twinkletoes77, read the exception in the last paragraph.

For some people it stays fun because they make an effort to keep it that way. They make compromises. And in spite of these, the fun still isn't as it was during the honeymoon period. It's a different kind of fun . . . more like a mature, adjusted fun, in my opinion.

Beginning to get a bit pedantic in here. 😉

I think our relationship is a TOTAL exception to the rule.. for one.. we never lived in the same COUNTRY while we were a couple for the first part of our relationship.. that was 4 years. And then We saw each other when i lived 1000km maybe once every 2-3 months. When i moved within a 4 hour drive to him we saw each other 1-2 times a month. I moved in, in order to advance our relationship further and we were married a little over a year later from that. I mean we've had our arguments. But we STILL make people wanna stick their fingers down their throats when they see us together.

I think i lost my point somewhere in all my typing.

Hmm....a good friend of mine is persian. There are a tremendous number of absurdly hot women in his extended family.

You first! 😛

It certainly takes effort after the first year. My wife and I have been married for 13 months now. We get along great, but it does take a little extra effort here and there to keep things fun. It is not fun to share things like "paying bills" or "cleaning the garage" which were things that we did independently before. We only saw the best of each other before we were married. Now we have to work a little to see the best of each other. But it is worth it!

Been married for over 2 and living together for over 3 years. Is the honeymoon stage ever supposed to end? 🙂
