We narrowed it down to four places...

Tahiti, Barbados (or any of the other islands in the Caribbean), Bahamas, and Dominican Republic.

Anyone have cons on any of these places?

The only reason we like Tahiti is because they have these huts on the water. it seems like the coolest and most relaxing thing. The con is that it is pretty expensive....so this will probably be the least likely destination.

If anything, do you think it is worth going to an all inclusive resort?

Check out the Maldives, might be closer to your woods. Also Santorini, but given the current political and economic situation, don't know if you want to chance it.

Dominican Republic, if you don't step out of the resorts, then everything is as the postcard depicted...

Checked out Maldives.... wow... how much does it usually cost to fly there? Also, is that body of water usually warm? I guess I can replace Tahiti with this. The only thing I am worried about is language and food. We are planning to stay for a whole week and The price of Maldives is the same price for an all inclusive in the Bahamas.

They speak English over there, it's South West of Sri Lanka somewhere so I think it's fairly warm. If you don't want people to bother you, Maldives is definitely more exclusive than your mentioned destinations.

I went to Punta Cana a few years ago as an inclusive trip, and while the resorts are nice, but there are just too many people there for a honey moon atmosphere.

As for the Maldives, I believe the King is actively seeking lands in Australia, or NZ to move his country there because the entire thing is going under water soon...

I find most tropical places similar enough that I'd pick based on cost and weather at that time of year. i.e. laying on the beach in Tahiti isn't going to be worth $1k or whatever more than laying on the beach in the Caribbean.

out of what you have listed and if money is not a factor, Tahiti most definitely.

i've been to barbados and bahamas. in barbados we stayed at a villa on the richer side of the island so i can't really say what it is like on the other side where all the main hotels and stuff are. was really nice in barbados though.

went to atlantis bahamas this past december and that place is incredible. nicest resort i've been to by far. you and your wife could have a great time there as well, with REALLY good restaurants. however, it isn't a quiet secluded place by any mean, just a really nice place to go.

Errr -- what? I have a friend who lives in Italy and she and her husband go there often. They're not Muslim, either.

OP -- no love for Europe? Our honeymoon was 1 week in France and another week in Italy and we had an awesome time.

You can go to the Caribbean any week of any year.

Agreed. At least for the Bahamas. Been there and it doesn't really seem like honeymoon material. Don't get me wrong - it was nice I just think you could do better

Check out Ladera resort on St. Lucia. Very nice. Doubt you will see anything else like it.

Depending on the destination, all inclusive is the only way to go. Mexico? All Inclusive because the water will tear you a new one outside the resort. Some of the more remote islands? All inclusive because there really isn't anywhere to go.

I'd be reluctant to start a honeymoon off with 8 plus hours in an aircraft.

If you are on the east coast, I'd look at DR or some similar place.

West Coast, I'd probably look at Hawaii or Maui.

Wherever you go, best of luck!

My wife and I loved Sandals, an adults only (not in a naughty way) all inclusive resort. We stayed at the Ocho Rios one in Jamaica and it was perfect.

Yeah, that is what I thought...Plus, I saw a menus from outside a resort... It was around 35 USD for a dish.... I cannot do that every night...

Sandals sounds like the way to go... They just had a 65% off sale. Not sure if it is a gimmick, but it ended up being $1400 for 6 nights plus airfare. Hopefully we can book somewhere by the end of this week.

We scratched Tahiti and stuff. It cost too much to get there and everything was not all inclusive. oh well...those huts on the water will have to wait :(
