I agree, and i was a hater when HL2 first came out. You have to admit that steam was broken back then. However, im now a believer.

I'll use steam again once TF2 (HUGE TFC nut back in the day...talking 4+ yrs of playing the game) and PORTAL (simply, wow) are released along with HL2: EP2.

And Adaman, FYI the Friends list has been working for many months now.
I can't get connected with a buddy of mine, maybe we don't have the right ports open for it or something like that, but it seems like it should be working. We just paste the IP of the server we're playing in Trillian, which isn't too bad.

<raises hand> I still hate it! It makes reboots that much more painful--and I'm not a "PC always on" kinda guy.
When is it slow for you? It sure used to be, but now it opens almost immediately and closes instantly. It is a bit slow initially loading a game like HL2, but to help alleviate that I disable the animated main menus.Originally posted by: pontifex

its a bit slow but otherwise works ok for me i guess. i barely use it though, so my thoughts may be a little skewed

Haha I was just thinking the same thing. Yeah these isolated days suck, but you have to realize the greater good!Originally posted by: Avalon
Steam is pretty awesome until it goes down for an entire day. Oh yeah, like today!
