How do you like the way your cars drive?

This Saturday I test drove a 2004 EX and noticed that the clutch engagement seemed a little abrupt. I know that sometimes it takes time for the clutch to wear in for a smoother takeoff. But if it doesn?t I imagine that it might make the car a handful in bad weather and stop and go traffic.

I think it might also need a little more suspension tweaking to make it stick in the corners better. Other than that both my wife and I really liked it. It also had NAV and they were asking over $31 for it. They said they were willing to deal.

I also tested a TSX in the afternoon. Unfortunately the dealer didn?t have any 6 speeds on the lot. The automatic was nice but not as much fun as the Honda. The TSX is a REAL nice ride and it comes with a ton of dealer and Acura amenities. The one we drove was marked at $25.5. It didn?t have NAV.

Its handling was also ?right on?. I don?t think that aftermarket suspension pieces would improve it at all.

I?m going to test drive a 6 speed TSX later this week maybe that will help me make a decision.

Yes, Honda clutches are very "grabby". This was verified two years ago when I installed an OEM clutch in my Accord. Then last year when I did the swap I went with a performance clutch and the engagement was hardly different (tho pedal pressure was greater). And yes, I love the way my clutch is. I like that it engages fairly close to the floor unlike other cars I've driven where it engages much higher up. The handling is great as well:) BTW, I'd take the TSX because I like 4doors:)

Yea so did our 6'5" Acurs salesman. :)

The Honda sales guy was a little cramped in the back seat. Lack of rear seat room is OK because it seldom gets any use anyway.

I'm not particularly tall (6') but I do like sedans.

I take it you test drove a coupe V6 and not the sedan?

Here's my 04 Accord, non V6 though

The backseat has plenty of room for me. But yes, the handling isn't meant to be as sporty as say a 6 would be. Most people are going the cheap route in upgrading their handling by putting on '04 Acura TL front and rear swaybars, which improves handling nicely. (About $130 for all parts IIRC) I suppose the swaybars from the TSX could be imported over, if they are any different. (TSX = 7th gen Euro Accord. The engine is the same K24 in the 4 banger Accord like mine, just different heads, ECU, and one or two other minor things)

Neuspeed makes a great set that runs about $400 for front and back IIRC that makes it feel like a whole different car.

Your Acura dealer sucks if they didn't have any 6 speed TSX in stock to test drive. Simply put though - the TSX will be more fun to drive, even with upgraded sway bars in the Accord. The TSX does come with NAV and is similar in function to the Accord's. (I mean you can get the TSX with Nav) It's just a matter of what you or your wife, or better yet - the primary driver of the car wants out of the vehicle.

And every single person who owns a V6 7th gen Accord agrees with you on the clutch :)

WOW your car is so shiny it looks like a mirror! All I can see is the reflection of the tree and driveway.

The Acura dealer is good, it's just that the 6 speed version is very popular and harder to get.

I also own a 95 / 5 speed coupe and it's an absolute pleasure to drive. It's really my sons car but he can't drive it for a while ;)

Thanks - the color (Graphite Pearl) is the best looking color hands down, and it has a great shine to it. I think it was the angle I took the picture at, but that's my favorite pic just because of how well the reflection off the paint job turned out. I can't wait to wax it for the first time :)

Oh and Nutbucket - the clutch is a little feisty on the 7th gens

I think sticker with the navi is $29k but I honestly wouldn't pay more than invoice for a 6-speed. I mean for $31k I'd start looking at the G35 or 325, it's a simple value equation IMO.

Well the blue isn't bad :) Actually I see a Graphite Pearl EX driving to work everyday. Rarely see a blue though. How was the meet? BTW ygpm :)

Yea it just looks a lot cleaner debadged. I took off the LX b4 Christmas and just took off the Accord a few weeks ago. That angle of the pic is what made the pic turn out so great though :)
