I would actually buy a Honda pickup, if they did a ladder style frame on a mid-size chassis or full size chassis...

Looks like what they're bringing to market now isn't a pickup though, it's a vehicle to carry your Latvian Elkhound to the vet in.

 a civic base, transformed into the accord model, which eventually became the basis of the Odyssey, which later morphed into the Pilot, whose chassis now will support a truck bed... WTG :D

Civic-->Accord-->Odyssey-->Pilot-->4x4$ Pickup

Funny thing is the Pilot is pretty decent off road for being car-based. And all of those models get rave reviews. They must be doing something right at Honda Engineering:)

the new Honda will feature a ute-like, five-passenger cabin mated to a short pickup bed. In basic concept, it will be similar to Ford's Explorer Sport Trac
I'm sure it will be well made, but I don't think the world needs any more vehicles like this.

I like where Honda is going with their utility vehicles.. the Element is nicely designed and very functional. Anyone know how it rides ?

Based on that design, i'm looking forward to Honda Pick-Ups :)

Well then, what kind of vehicles does the world need that Honda doesn't already produce?

If Honda is making it, it sure is welcome addition the market. Not everyone needs/drives an econobox. There are certain vehicles that do have purposes beyond getting from point A to point B.

My chevy astro for instance is built on the Silverado frame, it's fairly good. Horrible mileage for a v6 (16mpg) and makes rattles and noises I can't even decipher anymore. I'm sure the Honda would make a very quiet, fuel efficient, nimble, powerful truck. Honda needs to raise the bar and get other manufacturer's to at least try and change their 20+ year old truck designs.

I think the market is essentially saturated, er rather it will be. Honda is such a late comer to the game they might as well just avoid the pickup market and stick with that they know and build their cars.

I can see Toyota and/or Nissan making a large impact on the truck market, but I just can't see Honda doing anything spectacular. The people at Honda, also, seem to be allergic to V8s and RWD vehicles and I think not having a V8 up and ready to go will really hurt them.

I bet he took longer than 5 minutes. The "mdx-alanche" actually looked kind of cool though.

They get rave reviews because they are reviews as minivans, not as pickups.

You want a truck? Get a F150/1500. If you want something smaller than a 6" bed, go buy an El Camino.

Ever consider that some people off road and don't want a bulky F150/1500?

I suppose. Kinda defeats the point of a truck though.

In keeping with Honda's commitment to environmental and safety leadership, the Honda SUT Concept also sets a new standard for fuel efficiency, low emissions and safety performance in the light-duty truck segment.

Ahh.....nothing less from Honda. All of their cars are environmentally friendly.
