Low supply, high demand...

equals caching for them...

Any other good alternatives? Was going to get the SI?

Well the SI's competitors are basically the GTI and the Mazdaspeed3, but both will cost more than a non-nav SI.

Check craigslist.

the dealerships around me were not negotiating either.

i checked craigslist and saw quite a bit of 08's with less then ~5k (sorta like demos) for ~$16-17k

I believe the Civic was the best-selling car in America last month, for the first time ever. I imagine dealers don't feel a lot of pressure to discount them.

Exactly, they're not exactly hurting to move them off the lots. If the OP doesn't want to pay msrp somebody else will.

1. Go to edmunds.com, find out what the exact car you are looking for is going for on average in your area.
2. Walk into the dealer with that price -$300.00 written on the back of your business card.
3. Tell the dealer that is what you are willing to pay, and hand him your card.
4. Walk away.

If they go for it great. If not, do the same thing with the next car on your "wanted" list.

Stealership? Why, because they are charging what they know they can sell the vehicle for? How dare them!! What nerve they have, trying to make money on the sale of a vehicle!!!

Why discount a vehicle you can sell easily at MSRP? I suspect used Civics are also selling for maximum price too.

Fullsize trucks and SUVs on the other hand, they can't give those things away.

What's the gas mileage on the Si? If it's anything like the S2000, it's terrible for such a small car. I don't see the point of Si when you have to put in premium gas.

good luck buying many cars around here without $2500-10,000 tacked on for a 'demand' charge. Fortunately you can drive around a 2 hour radius and cover about 90% of the state's dealerships.

So buy another car. Honda doesn't make the only small car you know? When the Toyota dealership started jerking us around when we asked to test drive a corolla and yaris, acting like we were a couple teenagers that just asked to take out their ferrari for a joy ride we just went and bought a hyundai instead.

Look at other cars. GM, Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, etc. all make smaller, fuel efficient cars too.

"Honda Stealerships around here are selling Civics for MSRP."

So take your money elsewhere. At least they aren't adding a "Market Value" sticker to the MSRP like some dealers will do when a model is in demand and short supply.

I drive 25 miles to work each way, all city driving. I've been averaging slightly over 27 MPG in my S2000. That's with fairly aggressive driving.

What's the Honda dealership competition like in your area? I was able to get e-mail quotes from 3 dealerships just by going through edmunds.com. One started out at $400 under invoice for a 4dr. EX. I have 4 dealerships within a 20 mile radius though.
