R&T has a blurb that honda is thinking about putting out a revised s2000 for fall 2k3. Main changes are coupe, and 2.2L putting out 250 HP. Chop the price down and I'll get in line. 🙂

is it a new engine? or is it a larger/smaller displacement, putting out 10 more hp....? that's less than i/h/e!

I think it's the original engine just changed a little to add more displacement.

I'd imagine they weren't aiming for more HP this time, because Honda doesn't usually add more displacement to motors with the aim of adding more HP, they tend to just spin the motor faster.

Bigger displacement for Honda kind of says they're aiming to add more torque, but I don't have numbers to confirm that. That always was the biggest complaint about the S2000 anyways.

oh yeah also, I think i/h/e doesn't really help the s2k, the motor is basically maxed out from the factory. When the s2k first came out, there was a mugen tuner version that costed 10K more but only added 10 HP and people were like WTF.

What does work is nitrous or SC. Vortex makes an SC kit for the s2k that adds another 100 HP. :Q

This rumor has been going around for a long time (over a year I think)... there's no confirmation from Honda that they are actually going to do it... so dont hold your breath... 😉

I'd prefer something like a inline 6(maybe 2.0-2.5) under that long hood, it wouldn't make any more power than the revy four but it'll be atleast alittle more driveable.

Honda wouldnt want to mess up the perfect 50/50 front/rear weight distribution of the S2000, an inline 6 would probably be too heavy in the front...

they stuck a v6 into an nsx and never changed it even though thousands cried that it needed more power... i don't see them putting a v6 into the s2000 chassis without a dramatic redesign along with it.

I doubt it, a small inline 6 can be made these days as light as a four, it just adds more costs and expenses to the car but it can be done.
A inline 6 would make the S2000 a forty something thousand dollar car though.

I'd say that the SC kit you're referring to includes a centrifugal supercharger. The S2000 would do better with something that produces boost at LOWER RPMs.

i keep hoping they dont change it until after 2005.

that's the year i can drive, and my brother will give me his s2000.

it wouldnt be as cool driving an s2000 after they make a s2200.

You can always remove the S2000 emblem on the sides, no one will know its not a S2200. 😀
