Honda Recon project

SAWYER

Lifer
I bought a 2007 last night and it will shift into 5th but it will not pull 5th. It is electronic shift on the handle bar with buttons, any suggestions on what to check?

edit: I bought this cheap without really checking it out, I knew it had the 5th gear issue and a few other things. This will be a fun little project and I would love some help from you guys

Probably have to replace the bank angle sensor or the shift angle sensor. I believe there was a recall for my '04 Recon ES, dealer replaced them for free.

I thought they were fixed on the later models, something to look into though.

I will have time to look into it later but I will check those things, thanks. I have a few other issues, I will post more info Friday when I am off work but one of the issues is the rear axle I think. Anyway I got this super cheap, $450 and it was night when I bought it and for the price I paid I didnt even really check it out other than make sure it started and shifted. I knew about the 5th gear before I bought it, I am sure I will find other issues. I stumbled upon this by chance, I got it from a guy off Craigslist who was selling me an iPad. He was needing money for bills and asked if I would want the Honda.

I took the seat off today since I plan on cleaning the carb, there is lot of oil and it looks like it is missing a few bolts on the top of the engine and one was loose

Somebody's project just became your project ! Those Recons are solid little rides, similar to the Suzuki Ozark. Just put gas in 'em, and off they go. Hope its all an easy fix.
