That looks so much better than the current wants to be tough but instead is a dumpy Duplo Block style.

Current one has plastics fantastic interior. Very 90s.

I'd check the Highlander for sure to see how both compare.

it could be my next suv, as long as they don't set the price too high. The 2015 top of the line model can be had for under $40k. I am hoping to get semi-loaded middle of the line (touring?) one for under $40k, might have to price MSRP early on.

Yeah, I don't see much of a point of the Pilot if you are pushing $40k because you might as well just get the MDX instead. Plus, once you go over $40k, there are a LOT of other nicer options in the $40-50k range IMHO.

Solid SUV, for sure.

Yeah, I've been out of touch on the "large" unibody SUV market. Started shopping around the other day and GMC Acadias and Buick Enclaves are MSRP'ing in the low-mid 50's? Whut?

Who pays that much for these things?

No kidding, especially when you get hit HARD on depreciation on those models. Not saying they are bad SUVs (they aren't) but much better buys 2-3 years old and still on factory warranty and save $20k.

Hondas, on the other hand, are better new or with closer to 80k on the OD. Buying with low miles is only marginally cheaper and more of a risk IMHO.

The Traverse seems to be the way to go on these depending upon options you would require. The 2LT model with just leather added as an additional option seems to be the best way to go on the price/luxury balance scale. The 2LT doesn't give up very much to the LTZ model beyond superficial stuff (chrome bits, wheels, etc.). It sits right at 40k msrp. (2LT w/ leather, AWD).

just remember, (since you contemplate buying a brand new car),

CARS ARE LOSERS!

If you seek to get ahead in life don't put your earnings into a car. Save & invest your money instead, to build a prosperous future for yourself and all who depend on you.

Sometimes you have to spend money to make money.

Around here where they put way too much salt on the roads cars rust quickly. I but new, and trade in after three years before the major rust starts and value plummets.

Used cars are a southern commodity in my eyes.

That's not right. I bought a nicely equipped Acadia for just under $40k. I would assume that's still pretty accurate (leather, AWD, sunroof, etc.)

Considering an optioned out Civic approaches $30k and an Accord approaches $38k, I don't feel that large cross-overs are that pricey in comparison. We even compared the Tahoe and Yukon and unless you need to tow over 5000lbs, the Lambda platform has nearly the same interior room and actually roomier behind the 3rd row.

Looks really good. Thinking it might hurt Acura RDX/MDX sales because it doesn't have that odd looking Acura grill but matches it very close otherwise.

If I was looking for a reliable SUV, this one would be at the top of my list.
