I am considering purchasing a mini van. I tested the 04 Sienna today and it was extremely nice. Just curious if anyone had something to say about either one.

What the hell does a single guy with no kids need a minivan for? And if you can afford a brand new $20,000 van, why have you been riding around on a bike up until now?
 
Unless you want to wait for the new odyssey, I'd say get the newly designed Sienna. Its overall a better vehicle.

I use mine to haul crap around. Pull the seats out and you have a truck. Put them back in and you can haul people. My dogs like laying on the back seats a lot more then they liked sliding around in a truck bed. Having one thats intercooled and turbocharged helps me feel like a man when driving it 😉.

Oh and the other main reason was I needed something good in the snow so my 5.0l mustang can stay in the garage during the winter.
 
i currently have a wagon, but it doesnt carry all my stuff for work. so im gonna have to upgrade soon, but I really dont want a truck because its not accessible as a van with two sliding doors. suv's are heavy in price and in gas, therefore the minivan.

My family has an Odyssey. Excellent people and stuff-mover, doesn't look that repulsive, and has some power to boot.

Still a minivan though. 😉

Buy an old pickup truck for hauling, and a car for fun.

Taking the seat in and out is often pain in the butt.

Which one allows you to convert back and forth easier? What about the leg room for the rear passengers when the seat is installed?

 
I just bought and Odyssey and I like it a lot . Has real good pickup(0-60 in about 7.3 sec.) Cavernous interior and handles surprisingly well. I got the low end model and it doesnt have any of the bells and whistles on it. A friend of mine has a new Sienna and likes that a lot as well. I drove both and the best way to describe it to you is this way: Honda gives you a lot more feel for the road, while the Sienna is kinda floaty. No biggie, but that is about all the difference I can tell you. The Honda does have better acceleration than the Sienna, though not by much.

Keep in mind that the Odyssey is supposed to be changing over for '05. You may be able to score one a bit lower than what Honda dealers like to gouge you for. The Sienna, otoh is brand new and I've heard they wont deal too much on price. You really cant go wrong with either vehicle,imo.

Unless the wagon you're talking about is of the little red variety, why did you spend 1.5 hours on a bus going to Sacramento the other day?

On the Honda, the middle seats have a latch that allows you to easily remove them. I think the Sienna does too.

Honda's rear-most seat is suitable for 3 full sized adults to sit back there comfortably, with the middle rows scooted all the way back. Dont forget, both minis have the "magic rear seat" which allows you to fold the rear row flush with the floor. On the Sienna, the seat is a 60/40 split, so you can actually fold one half and still have room for a person or two in the rear seat.

thanks everyone for your post....i checked out he nissan quest today. i drove it from my house to the dealer ship then to work and back to the dealership. its such a fun minivan. if i had kids, they would love the glass ceilings....anyways...its a bit high for me. i tested the se model and it was priced like 32 excluding tax. for that much, i would just got with the new sienna xle all wheel drive.

so right now, its definitely the sienna. i dont know if 38k is what i want to spend on a van 🙂 but its nice!!
