I think you can figure it out on your own.

not only that, but the guy's only had the car for a few months, if i recall correctly. didn't take him long to loose the keys.

Honda valet keys don't even have chips on them nontheless any buttons for remote entry etc...

My Lexus Valet does have a chip inside it but does not have remote options.

all you need to do is just get a replacement key.

Why the hell would you need to reprogram your other keys anyways.

They don't program the key to the car, they program the car to the keys. They don't do a thing to the key except stick it in the ignition and "teach" the car to accept it.

There's a limited number keys that the car can accept at any given time.

I believe that you can "reset" the car and then reprogram it to accept only your remaining keys.

If the procedure for a Honda is anything like it was for Nissan, you'll probably be able to do it yourself (no tools required) if you find a tech willing to tell you how.

You can probably also find procedure on the net somewhere. rec.cars.makers.honda is one place that comes to mind. I don't know how active that newsgroup is these days though.

EVEN YOUR MASTER KEYS DON'T HAVE CHIPS 😛 that might have changed with the newer Honda's but my familys 99 sure didn't.

a 2003 Accord is going to have that system.

I'm pretty sure that every key would need the transponder chip, or else the system would not work.

my 2003 civic has a key with a "chip"

from what I heard, its not really a chip inside there...there's a resistor in the key, and there's a current sent through the ignition; if the resulting voltage isn't a particular number (using a predefined current and the "proper" resistance in the key), it is assumed the key is a fake and the car won't start.

at least that's what the guy who installed my car alarm told me.

you can get your other keys reprogrammed so that the one no longer works in your car... @ least you can with nissan...

I just bought 2003 accord ex v6 this weekend and the dealer said that the valet key has a chip inside as well as the 2 master keys. It costs about $40 to replace the valet key and $80 to replace the master key. I think it might cost a bit more to reprogram the ignition system with the new code and to reprogram the chip in the key.

I want to ask if you sometimes have trouble starting the accord on the first crank? This has happened to me twice. I'm going to the dealer today to have some work done on it and I want to bring this up to them.
