What does it take for a late 90's civic to pull 115+ trap speeds? On my way home tonight i was schooled in the SRT8 by a very quiet civic that absolutely kicked my ass from 40-85mph

I was once schooled in my WRX by a mid nineties VW Polo G40. It usually just takes money and know how.

Headers is all you need to make any civic a quarter mile monster. Live life a quarter mile at a time.

You could do it NA, but it'd cost too much.

Much more likely he was boosting... I'm sure something like 20psi from a disco potato would net him close to 400hp from a B16 motor.

This is what you get when you ask the custom design guy to: "paint my car in such a way that people want to key it"

Did you ever read that short story The Destructors? It's about some troubled kids who destroy a guy's house just because they're assholes. Replace house with car and there ya go.

Nope, but I did watch Donnie Darko again the other night, and Drew Barrymore's character teaches using that short story.

Not a whole lot, that's only low 12s. A large displacement B or K series swap would do it n/a. 250 hp and < 2000 lbs

Exactly

Since they're so light they don't need much power to be quick. The ones you have to look out for are the ones without body kits as they spend all their money making it fast and not making it look good.

This one was the perfect sleeper. Looked like a stock late 90's SI with different wheels and full interior as well so i was guessing turbo all the way. Wish i could have got to talk to the guy. That car is an ego crusher.

I just look at the front tires. If I don't see ugly ass 15s with flat looking fat tires, no need to pay any attention to the rest, because its either a) all show no go, or b) if it does have performance mods it won't matter without good tire on FWD anyway.

If you see a stock looking primered Civic with flat tires on steelies with an intercooler peeking out of the front bumper with an off switch on the rear bumper, better bring your A game.

I love the engine bays of the eg hatches, so clean with a wire tuck and you can see pavement all around. Its like open the hood and you see a valve cover and exhaust manifold and that's it.

^^ ExD's got it on the front tire thing, that's the first thing smart ones learn when trying to get them to hook up after adding power.

Honda people learn several things pretty fast :

(1)- Traction is difficult to get with FF.
(2)- Stock Civic motors are mostly a waste of time trying to improve, B18C5, K20, H22 are the kings, everything else is really best left alone as an econobox motor. Pumping $ into a D15 is useless lol.
(3)- Weight is free performance when you lose it.

and the really smart ones :

(4)- Best to leave the exterior alone, or maybe even attach a 'DX' emblem to the car :)

How much does it cost to pump up an H22 to 400whp?

An off switch?
