Hi there. My dad has an old '95 FourTrax Big Red 300cc ATV, and while it can pass through nearly anything but a brick wall (and I think I can pass through that too with enough momentum) it chokes at high RPM. The engine is kind of...eh...weak...used to have 25HP when it was new.
right now, after 8 years, who knows :)

My question is, is there a site that provides detailed info about ATV's HP and torque at certain RPM and also, is it safe to push that old engine to the end? right now it has plenty of torque at low RPM so I dont push it.

TIA :)

Sure. You can run it till it won't run no more. ;)

Start with a tuneup.. could make a world of difference.

Damn, I remember when the Big Red was a three wheeler with a 250CC engine in it. Then all the dumbasses bought one and started to tip them and blamed Honda.

I suggest you run some carb cleaner just in case (i like to use Yamaha Carb cleaner.. 1 tsps cleaner + 3 tsps fuel (see instructions though).. the loss of top end is either a vacume leak or a torn diaphram.. If the carb cleaner dont work, check for vaccume leak (rubber hoses)..

while your at it, change teh spark plugs too and clean the airfilter.

same here,
Big Red is a 3 wheeler, one of the Least tippy of them,
the Polaris 3 wheeler was also Not very tippy,
but both are not nearly as stable as a 4 wheeler.

How to Keep Your Honda Atc Big Red Alive: A Manual of Step by Step Procedures Anyone Can Follow

MUST HAVE for 3wheeler owners, February 20, 2001
Reviewer: Daniel S. Dale from Mississippi
If you have a Honda Big Red or ATC250SX then you NEED this book. Lots of great tech tips and troubleshooting guides, plus it has illustrations that you can actually decipher. Some technical things could use more pictures, but those are the things that, if you're doing them, you pretty much can do anyway.
