Honda Element: First-quarter update. A mixed review

My brother was going to buy this truck. Personally I think its ugly but he loves it. Well he did love it til he saw the Highway Safety Test results that show there is a good chance u won't have a torso on a side impact accident.

Honda screwed up big time on this one! It looks ugly, has no space, and is already falling apart according to the article.

And we?re putting on relatively few miles, in fact the fewest for a long-term fleet vehicle?s first quarter in anyone?s recollection. The Element hasn?t been the most requested vehicle in the fleet.

Heh sounds like none of the testers want to be seen driving the thing. 😉
I saw an Element stopped next to an Aztek last week at an intersection... seeing them side by side made me rethink my #1 and #2 ugliest cars... the Element just took the lead. Congrats to Honda for an ugly job well done. 🙂

They remind me of those crappy little cars you're always forced to use when you play games like Gran Turismo... Daihatsus or something right? Roughly 64 turbo charged horses in a boxy little 4wd package.

Let's compare these two cars to women. The Cavalier is ugly, but doesn't really call attention to itself. The Element is a big, 200 lb plus woman walking around in a miniskirt and tube top while proclaiming to everyone on Jenny Jones* that they really are every man's fantasy. Sorry, but I think the Cavalier is the better choice. 🙂

*does not necessarily imply that I watch Jenny Jones

The Element is more like my 250+lb neighbor that always wears neon green spandex as she punishes her riding lawn mower around the yard.

Wow, I knew it was ugly but I thought it would at least have Honda build quality going for it. If plastic pieces keep falling off left and right, the entire truck will eventually disintegrate.

the plastic they used on the outside is useless. I was able to use my (badly chewed) finger nails to carve in it at the NAIAS. Whats the point of putting on plastic over the paint when the plastic scratches worse than the paint?

It adds rugged good looks? 😉
