Honda CRV grinding noise - need advice this does not sound good !

1998 Honda CRV 90'000 KM - automatic transmission

There is a grinding / deep vibration noise that is coming from the engine/front end of the vehicle and it appears to be when the engine shifts from gear 2 into gear 3. It is an automatic and I notice this noise only when the rpm / gear indictator (I'm not sure what it is, its the thing next to the spedometer) peaks at gear 2 and goes into 3. Any ideas, I'm worried it is the transmission but I know next to nothing about car engines. We have a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty on the vehicle, we only got it from the dealership used/certified about 2 months ago.

Any help is appreciated.

why worry about what it is? it's on warrenty, so take it in and let them worry about how expensive it will be.

it's 3 years or 36k miles.. ( whichever comes first )
not too sure what that equates to in KM but take it in before the warranty is up

Take it to a tranny shop. Sounds like the syncros are going, how is the fluid in the tranny?
