Does anyone here have a honda civic 1998-to 2002. If so does the car have a weak ac. I noticed today that my ac was pretty weak. If any of you guys have had that problem how did you fix it.

mines quite strong:p just shove it to medium or high fan setting and recirculate when initially cooling down a sun baked car. i also set it to feet and head vents, i figure less back pressure for fans:)

from what i know, the compressor runs at the same speed no matter how fast the fan setting is set, so u might as well crank it up:)

Woah, another 1998 Civic with weak AC just like mine! I never got around getting an AC inspection.

yep, got a 98 civic and IMO the AC is a little weak. my solution is to put the fan to 4 and recirculate the air. i don't like the idea of breathing in what i expel but the ac stays cold.

Heheh. I just got my 1998 Honda Civic back from the mechanic today for ac problems. They had to replace the compressor fan on the unit and did a bunch of other stuff, and the ac blows cold again.

But they also told me the compressor was going bad, and that it was the cause of my crappy gas mileage.
I will find out tomorrow how much a new compressor is gonna cost.
Probably gonna drive around all winter without the ac.

I have a 99 Civic EX and the AC works great (better than my 95 civic ever has). I've used mine alot this year (unusually hot in the Cleveland, OH area this year). Maybe you need a recharge or possibly have a slow leak in a hose. Just a suggestion (i'm no expert)

I have a 96 civic 4dr LX. I doubt there is any difference between our ac systems. Mine used to be very weak. Temperature used to registered in the 60s at the vent at max setting. Then I went to PepBoys to pick up a r-134a recharge kit (includes gauges, hoses, fittings and 1 can of refrigerant plus lubricant) for 29.99 + tax. Recharge my car's ac system and now it's in like-new condition, registered around 40 degree at the vent at max setting. :)

I suppose there's more margin for error with 134a systems? The R12 in my 91 Accord still turns my car into a meat locker:D LONG LIVE FREON!
