Honda CEO: "300HP NSX should beat Ferrari"

I was just thumbing through the the May issue of Automobile magazine when I came across a pic of the next gen NSX. I paused to look at it because for a split second I thought it was an Enzo. Anyways, in the summary of what's to be done with the car, I notice the quote :

"NSX should beat Ferrari," says Honda president and CEO Takeo Fukui. That sounds delusional for a car with a 300HP V-6.

I mean, is this where the riceboys get their mentality when they take their 150HP civics up against 300HP sportscars? Was this guy just trying to sound like a fool with that quote? It just baffles me that a CEO could have this mentality...

Unless this new NSX weighs 2000 lbs (ok that's an exaggeration but bear with me) it's not even touching any current Ferrari. Even the base 360 is damn quick

Maybe in a top speed comp. I believe the NSX does have a better CD than most Ferraris, but if he's talking acceleration he's just blowing it out his ass.

by .1 seconds, and it weighs 500 lbs less. unless the NSX goes on a tremendous diet it isn't beating a ferrari. the Z06 has similar power and weight to a modena, for comparison

What's your point ? The Cobra is running the THE SO CALLED MIGHTY V8 running 100+HP on the NSX. yet the NSX still edges it out by .1sec.

NSX proves that you don't need a V8 to have decent performance.

No one cares if you can beat a Ferrari in a straight line, look at the Ford GT, it out corners, out brakes, and out accelerates the 360, that's where you truly beat a Ferrari.

Whoever drove that Mustang SUCKS - a Cobra can rip off a 13.0 flat, something a stock NSX will NEVER do.

uh, the question is if an NSX can take a ferrari with 100 more horsepower than it and of (probably) similar weight, not if you can get a performance car with a V6. the accurate comparison is the Z06 (since the Z06 can keep up with the modena). you're a moron.

He doesn't mention what type of Ferrari it is so Honda beating a Ferrari isn't out of the question. also I was merely comparing the V8 SVT to the NSX.
You said that it weighs 500lbs less than the Mustang, and it beat it by .1 seconds.
You fail to mention that the Mustang still pushing most likely 100+more HP to it.

Also the who knows what's to be done with the ACURA. For all you know the CEO could be talking about the NSX they got over there in Japan, which most likely is pushing more than the US Versions.
