Honda/Acura has a rather strange line up.

The Civic is bigger and the LX model costs as much as the Accord LX. Accord is now a full size car and there is nothing between the Civic and the Accord. Something like the Acura TSX should be in between, but the TSX is the entry level luxury car for Acura, which also used to be the non-US Accord. The TL used to look hot, but now looks like it's inspired by the Aztec.

Not sure what you are getting at OP

you realize TSX == Accord right?

USA 2010 Accord is not even remotely close to 2010 USA TSX. The new US Accords are massive in size, and the new TSX is still based AFAIK on the euro-spec Accords that are smallish midsize.

The TL indeed is another strange one. They basically took the poorly selling and portly Acura RL and turned it into the new TL, along with a horrendous train-wreck of a front clip. The previous TL was sporty and clean, now it's indeed Aztec-esque.

fix't. this last gen of civic and accord for the complete and utter lose.

Anyways, it is not that strange.

The lineups do not have to be completely seperate where you go:

Honda small --> Honda big --> Acura mid --> Acura big

There is always some crossover in most brands

Honda small --> Acura mid ~~ Honda big (different target markets for these) --> Acura big --> Acura "bigger"

In fact, in Canada we have a Acura CSX which == JDM Civic that brings even more confusion... because it costs as much as midrange Accord does

While the cars may not be so distinct, the markets are (with the exception of the aforementioned CSX)

Edit:

The old I35/Maxima comparison comes to mind with respect to crossover between luxury and regular brands. Top of the line Maxima would cost as much as the I35 with them being almost the same car.

this

acura had nice looking cars until some designer decided to put that hideous front end on the entire lineup

at least the bmw front end looks good on all the cars

But the backs of BMW look straight out of the 2000s. 🙁
