I am looking to buy Honda Accord SE, they want extra $300 for side airbag.

Should I pay extra $300 for this?

I would, the difference in monthly payments would be minimal ($10 maybe on a 36 month?) and I like having all my body parts intact.

Yes, it's worth it. I got it on my new VW. ($220.00)

If it decreases your chance of being injured in a crash, i'm all for it.

It's not very useful unless you crash your car.
Also, I believe in accord they put it into the door, and the elbow rest on the door doesn't feel very solid with the airbag in it. At least that's how it is in my friend's coupe.

My friend just got plowed from the side two days ago by some stupid biatch running a red light. He would have had major injury if his Lexus didn't have side air bags.

You take your chances.

Yes. You know that in that car if an SUV t-bones you guess what your head's new best friend is? The grill of the SUV. $300 is NOTHING. The altima side airbags with ABS is like $800 - $300 just for the airbags is certainly worth it.

If you have to ask this question, then you obviously dont mind getting hurt.

Ask yourself if there is anyone that may ride in your car who you do not want to get hurt - you might answer it easier (ie: Girlfriend/Wife/Family/Children?)

I bought a Civic last year and payed the extra $250 for it. This potentially save my life, save my body parts, and save on medical bills. In addition my insurance company quoted me a price and I mentioned that I added the side air bags and they adjusted the price to save me $3 per month. So after 7 years I will make my money back and start to earn a profit.

Also I find the air bag quite entertaining at times. They have multiple sensors in the seat to determine if a child is sitting there and is leaning against the door. (It doesn't want to injure the child so it disables itself in that case). The funny part is my wife and one of our friends are both adults that weigh roughly 90-95 pounds. When they lean against the door, the airbag off light comes on and it always brings a laugh.

Check with your insurance company to see if additional safety features will decrease your premiums. You might pay extra for safety and not wind up paying any more than you would have anyway.
