My 98 accord has the parking brake on the center console, you pull it up to engage it.

I went to put the parking brake on and when I yanked the handle up I heard a pop and now the parking brake won't engage.

I'm not sure if the problem is in the console or the end of the cable.

Anyone ever have this happen.

Yep - the cable snapped.

Yup.. same thing happened to my civic.
Just make sure that you put your car on 1st gear wherever you park it.

It's an auto so I put it in "P" ;)

Then really why the complaint if you own a automatic?

It's not safe to park an automatic on an incline without the parking brake. Fine on level ground, though.
