Honda Accord options

Just spec'ing out an Accord I'd eventually like to get, what I'm planning to do is use the value edition or LX and add a better sound system (which would leave me to believe the Value is the best bet) and get some nice rims (nothing flashy or expensive, just nicer).

or

The LX SE.

This will be cloth. Since my current used Honda Accord EX is leather, and it's worn, I've decided that the maintenance and how it wears isn't something I'm fond of, not to mention cost.

Isn't Value = VP = Value Package

Get the LX, it has the VTEC and will REALLY help when it comes to selling it in a few years.

Make a poll with 4 choices, DX, VP, LX and SE.

You get VTEC either way.. value or LX.. look what LX adds...

1) 120-watt AM/FM, 6-disc in-dash cd changer
2) body covered power side mirrors
3) multi-reflector halogen headlights w/ auto off
4) variable intermittent windshield wipers...

any chance of getting a hybrid?

i agree w/ rossman. LX is the best choice b/c of the engine.

I'd love an Accord hybrid but way to much $$$ esp since we only drive 6k/yr.

It would take us 20 years to justify the cost of a hybrid.

LX for sure. Another nice thing about cloth is it stays cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Although, I still like leather better 🙂

Get the VP if you want to roll up your window by hand.

the VP has power windows

just look up the differences at honda.com, it's actually quite minor VP vs LX

can't believe i say this, but civic is looking awesome this year.
I've been saying the same thing. I don't like the design, but the features are awesome and the design actually makes a lot of sense ergonomically.

I have an EX Accord coupe with cloth interior.

In the end it doesn't really matter...I chose the non V6 option as the dealer was itching to get the cloth interior off the lot, and I talked him down in price considerably...because the V6 is in demand, expect to have less wiggle room in the price negotiations.

Is a second tailpipe and leather seats worth an extra 6k to 8k on the sticker price? You be the judge.

I live in a warm climate, so the heated leather seats didnt make much sense.

VP vs LX;
unpainted mirrors/handles
manual mirrors
2 speakers vs 6
no map lights
no rear folding bench console
narrower wheels/tires
no rear sway bar
(some other minor convenience stuff)

Both still have;
same engine/tranny
A/C
power windows
cruise control
keyless entry
CD player
ABS
side airbags

Difference in cost is ~1500 at invoice, you won't recover that at resale. You can pick up almost new original bigger wheel/tires from FS/FT for a couple hundred and a bigger than stock rear sway for $50. Supposedly harnesses for rear speakers are still present, so if you are a DIY guy, it's easy to add in (don't know first hand tho). If you need just basic, quality transportation, VP isn't bad. Auto VP invoices 17K, that's quite a deal. Do your own homework on honda.com of course though, i might have missed some stuff.
