I'm interested in buying honda accord 2001 new model.. I don't know if it's the same on in us though. (I'm in australia)
I heard that there might be a whole new model coming out next year, and I'm not sure the car can hold its value, especially when they are made in thailand (no offence). I'm also interested in nissan maxima (it's one of the infinity range in US I think) and subaru liberty. They are both due for facelift in august. What shall I buy? I need a car with a big boot and fuel efficent one.

Hmmmm all are quility cars as you know. I don't think you are correct about the accord losing its value faster than the others, but I might be wrong. You just need to do a little research on used accords to find out for sure.

But why don't you go and test drive all 3 models whoami? I'm sure one will feel nicer to you than the others. But I really have heard a lot of good things about all 3. Just go with what you preffer.

my parents drive a 1998 accord and they love it. i think vtec actually does something, (as it does) and its a pretty fast car for a sedan. if you are getting a v6 model, they handle well and accelerate fast. hondas resale value is really good!

the vtec doesnt do jack squat until you are like past 6000 rpm's. no sane person drives the car in those rpm levels on a regular basis for any length of time :disgust: :|

so if you're not revving the hell out of the engine, it just puts along at like 100 hp

The Maxima is also known as the Nissan Maxima in the US. The bottom line Infiniti here in the US is the I30t (not counting the G20) which is known as the Nissan Cefiro in other parts of the world.

I'm not sure what model the Subaru Liberty is exactly, never heard of that model in the states. I'm guessing the Liberty also has AWD (like all Subarus).

The Accord and Maxima are close in quality and other characteristics. I usually place Subaru's under Nissan and Honda in terms of comfort and what not, but they are very good cars, and has an edge over the other two companies with their AWD.

How important is AWD to you? Other than that, I think the Maxima out performs the Accord (don't have the numbers in front of me). Can't go wrong with any of them...

Actually the reason why Hondas keep their resale value is that they offer little to no incentives to the buyer i.e. low A.P.R. and rebates. I currently have a 2000 Accord Coupe, good car, but parts and service price is high. Depreciation for Hondas on average is higher then any manufacturer except Toyota.

The maxima is very nice, I have the '99 model and it ROCKS! I don't like the 2000 model very much, don't know much about 2001, but it's definately a great car all around. Fuel efficency is 28mpg on highway and 21 on the street. Not too shabby for 200+ horses.

Subaru liberty does have all wheel drive. It's mid sized sedan with 2-2.5 litre 4 cyl engine. It's also the cheapest. Has a very good reputation in oz, but don't sell as much as hondas.
Maxima's got the biggest and most powerful engine of them all. (and also 6cyl)
It's bigger and heavier without much penalty on the fuel efficiecy. And it's a great value. Accord on the other hand, the best looking IMHO.
Driving them first sounds good :) hehe
I'm incliend to the accord because I have been had good experience with honda.
I like liberty but it's bit too small..
So, it's down to the maxima and accord.
Which is safer car to drive?

I think about VTEC as having two engines in one. Mine kicks in at 5200 RPM.
BTW i have a 99 Accord

Although I am a true German lover, I still do like hondas. Im my personal experience riding in them, the build quality of the interiar differes between models. I rode in a really nice Accord and it was nice inside, but I also rode in one of those "value" edition accords and they were falling apart inside.

But overall,I really like the styling of the new ones.

I have a '98 Accord EX V6 Coupe, and I love it.

Btw, Valhalla, could you please get over yourself? I'm sick and tired of having to see your ignorant posts when someone asks a question about an import. Not everyone wants to be seen riding around in a WT boy-racer, high-school reject car.

No offense to American cars, but when I think Corvette, I think old man w/ no class, pertruding chest hair, and gold chains (fake, no less) around the neck. I know I'm not alone, just go any of the import boards and ask about a Corvette :) No class.

fast, you want fast?

any sportbike with 1000c or more will blow the doors off of any production car.
period.

you would need a car like a souped up Viper or supercars in the 100K+ category
to beat a 5K dollar bike.

Will people quite arguing that its only about performance - Cause it is'nt.

Its also about Luxury, Quality, Comfort, Status, Drivability, etc.

Isn't this what buying a sedan is all about anyhow?
Who buys one for anything else? I agree the rice out on a FWD is lame.

I would never spend any more then 20K on a sedan anyhow.
I don't see the point in a car like that... save the rest for a baby seat.... get the best one on the shelf.

The status of being seen in a BMW or whatever German car farce has these people in, has always made me laugh, I'd rather be seen driving a Accord or Civic on my way home, then to be driving a BMW on my way to the bank to make payments.

OK, back on topic. If you plan on keeping the car for a long time (7+ years), buy either the Subaru or the Honda. The Nissan is a nice car, but the interior fit and finish is not up to Honda standards. I drive a 1988 Accord, and occasionally my mother's 1998 Nissan Maxima, the controls in the Honda have a much better feel and provide more tactile feedback, while the Nissan's controls all feel like they are moving through butter. When I say controls, I mean the shift lever (automatic transmission), the radio/climate controls, the turn signal/wiper stalks, &c. I do not mean that the Maxima's handling is poor; the steering is terrific, the engine is wonderful, and the chassis is amazing. However, I think it says something that the interior of a 13 year old Honda feels better than the interior of a 1998 Maxima. I'd go with an Accord EX 4-cyl with the 5-speed myself, but Subaru has a bulletproof reputation here in the states as well, so it would not be a poor choice either.

Nice generalization on corvette drivers there. Its actually not so bad, compared to what a lot of people think about idiots who drive riced out honda's and toyota's, shaking their car apart with bass while wearing a backwards baseball hat (retards).

Deicide: Absolutely.

I think the same mentality applies to those that drive around in their Firebird, Camaro, Corvette, etc.. Much like those that drive around in their lowered Honda w/ 18" wheels, they're completely ignorant to the fact that they look like a fool.

I don't think my Honda is anything special. It came w/ everything I wanted (cd, at least 6 speakers (love my classical music, need nice sound), moonroof, power everything, remote entry), and it's reliable. It just seems as though Corvette, Firebird, Camaro, and "souped" up import drivers think they're really something, when in reality, they're not.

"not sure the car can hold its value"

i had a 1989 Honda Accord which I sold two days ago for $3500 which is a lot more than I would have expected. thus I think these cars really hold value well.
