HON or DOTA2?

Well you're going to need a beta invite to get into DOTA2 right now. But putting that aside, I'd go with DOTA2. It has Valve behind it and HON is circling the drain from all reports. Plus you have hats!

Dota games are all about knowledge, they have massive knowledge barriers. Nothing sucks more then having to start over again. Play the one that people will be playing a few years from now.

Why dont you try dota and see if you like it ?

Since I have played both, i can say its a matter of preference though I am partial to Dota 2 since I used to be a long time Dota player.

Rarely played DOTA 1. I picked up DOTA 2 pretty fast.

DOTA 2 is very intimidating to new players. And even more to those with little to no micro-RTS experience.
