Homework

A simple question for you all....
how do you motivate yourself to do homework?

i, myself, have a severe motivation problem. if it's something i care about, then i have no problem, but that's what we're talking about here, isn't it? being able to motivate yourself to do something you don't really care about. but if you can motivate yourself to do it, i guess you have to care about it. now do you understand my paradox?
i mean, i understand that i need to do it to get good grades, graduate high school, get into a good college, get a degree, and make money. but i guess this just doesn't click in my head or something, because it just doesn't phase me.

why should i have a bad time doing my homework when i could have a good time not?

In High School I had no motivation because my classes were probobly 8th grade level stuff (Florida is a piss-poor education system). Now since I am paying for the classes and they are a little tougher I take it as a challenge. The money issue is most of it though 😀

I have been very motivated lately, but honestly, I don't have an answer for you.

But then I'm motivated with some stuff and not with others. Just draw a balance somewhere.

Pretending also works. Pretend as if your homework has some relevance and meaning to your life. Or pretend as if you are interested in the subject. Very often, as you get over the initial step, you are more likely to be interested in the material.

I just get it out of the way so that I can do what I want to later in the day/night instead of being swamped with hw.

I'm pretty sure there are piss poor education systems everywhere... I know that when I get to college, it's hard to be hard as shiznit because I will have no idea how to study. and i'm not even sure that i will then even when $100 grand is on the line. now whenever i have something big due, i procrastinate until the night before, procrastinate some more, then end up saying screw it and going to bed.

I can't do mine until its due. like the night before. I mean i simply cannot bring myself to do it early. However, i DO eventually complete it becuase of the ramifications of not doing it. if you aren't scared by cheating yourself out of an education by not doing your homework, then i don't know of anything that would make you care

exactly, man... i simply just do not care. but i'm trying to make myself care, so i guess i do care. oh god, not again.

damn, man... i actually kind of like calculus. i never do the homework at home, but i still do it. that's like the one class i do work for on a regular basis.

so do you do the homework just for stuff you like? you won't care in college either, probably even if you are the one paying for it. you have to like what you do. if you are into your major... homework shouldn't be a problem

that's a point that a lot of people make... once you get to college and do work on your major (something you like), it's no problem. yeah, i realize the assignments will suck, but it's a lot easier when you at least care a little bit about it.

There are BS classes you have to take besides your major. That is what is such a pain. that and busy work. arrrgh i hate that

Well for my classes, the teachers usually base the test problems on homework, so that pretty much motivates me to do homework. Now what motivates me to care about doing well on tests, well that's getting a GPA and eventually a nice paying job, lol.

Well, does a 350 lb woman standing behind you with a baseball bat sound like a good motivation? :Q

For me, I just want to finish the Homework so I feel that I accomplished something today.

But more of the motivation comes from the 350 lb woman 😉

i would probably want to understand what is going on in class and i do that by doing homework. you would need to understand in order to pass tests...

I don't think ive ever not done a homework assignment on purpose knowing the consquences. Ever since I first got homework in like early gradeschool my parents have made me do it, so by 6th grade i was doing it every day myself without them having to tell me. I carried this out thru middleschool and now im a senior in highschool. Now im not saying i always do my hw, i will occasionaly not do homework on stuff that i already understand and that i know i dont have to turn in (such as bioap or calc hw). I think basicly habits stick, ive been giving it my all since kindergarten and i hope to continue through college.
