I can't believe I've sunk this low. . . can you help me simplify

(A+B)(B+C)=X

Here's what I did:

AB+AC+BB+BC
A(B+C)+BC

But it doesn't match original circuit. Where did I go wrong?

you went wrong when you dropped the BB out of there , but i havent done this stuff in years.

BB=B
B+BC
B(1+C)
BC

Ahh, now I see the error. This might work.

isnt (1+C) just 1?

= AB+AC+BB+BC
= AB+AC + B + BC
= AB+AC +B (1+C)
= AB + AC + B
= B(A+1) +AC
= B +AC

Yeah, that's the error I found. Fixed the problem.
