Greetings.

I will be rebuilding my home server soon to expand the storage and improve data integrity and am trying to decide on exactly what hdd's to use. Hardware is a g530/H61, looking for two drives 3 or 4TB each to make a RAID 1 array with using ZFS or btrfs with ubuntu server OS (machine needs to serve media as well as files). I would otherwise go with one of the "NAS" hdd options (e.g., WD red), but I have this vague and possibly misinformed recollection of a comment here that NAS drives aren't a good fit with ZFS (something about TLER not playing nice with it?). Is this accurate? Or perhaps is it a non-issue and I should just go with whatever is the best value for the size or best warranty? What should I be looking for in drives for this build? Thanks for any feedback.

NAS/RAID drives are fine with ZFS, you just don't need to pay extra for them with its RAID, nor other software RAID, generally.
