I play Poker a few times a week, was checking out home poker chips This is exactly what I want. When them even when I loose the games *badly* I can have the l33t chips. They are expensive, worth it if they are as good as they claim. I listened to all the testimonials and uhhh, I don't know they sound kind of scripted to me? like people on the informercials. If I'm going to drop a G on chips I'd like to feel safe. I ordered a sample set, but that's still not going to tell me how well my designs will xfer to custom chips. Anyone know of different places that do the same thing? Also if anyone has a recommendation for a graphic artist to design the graphics.

thanks

Who would pay that much for some chips?

$485 + $139 for the stock artwork + $ 25 in shipping....

You could go to a casino and just get a bunch on $1 chips and walk out with them instead and still be able to trade them back once they get dirty... :D

because $1 chips suck, even if it's just for "play" I like throwing in chips that have $1,000 on em. makes for better dramatics then "hay I'm all in, ummm 50 $1 chips!"

the price is actually good for custom chips. I was going to order 1,000 = $899 + $199 for custom artwork + $60 for custom edges with color and letters + $60 for something else I forget.

I like the idea of getting Casino $1 chips instead...

$1000 for poker chips is stupid.. Go buy some $27/bottle gourmet bottled water.

I mean.. when you play poker with friends, how often does a round get higher than $100?

You could get a poker set that's like 150 $5 chips, then 100 $1 chips.. And since they're Casino chips, they'd be sweet looking..

E-mail them and see if they will send you some sample chips first and check the quality, then report back to us when you have the sample chips in hand and tell us if you think it is worth it.

I *really* like the sets of chips that I have from http://www.nevadajacks.net

They do offer customization, but I have never seen how those turn out. The stock ones are really excellent quality, almost the same as real casino chips.

They are not cheap but their customer service is awesome and they are very high quality!

Going to assume they are what casino's use if you even been to one.

Good quality but don't think 1k will be worth it.

you know I really thought about how stupid it would be. But I play poker at least twice a week, and probably will for the rest of my life. $1,000 is a lot of money, but I could spend 1/2 that much on a new top of the line video card that won't last me more then 2 years. In perspective $1,000 for something I'll use for decades to come. It's not so bad. I play with a semi crummy $100 chip set now. As for the denominations. We play tourny, so it's whatever the buy in is, and everyone gets X amount of chips. Obviously I couldn't afford to play a game with $1,000 chips being face value :)

What's the difference? Does it make poker more fun if you can tell your buddies you spent $1000 on poker chips?
I simply cannot begin to fathom this buying decision.

Poker would be just as entertaining to me if I used monopoly money.

it all depends how serious you take something. I drive a Ford Taurus, it gets me from point a to point b exactly the same as my neighbor who has a 50 thousand dollar Escallade. for serious poker players, good chips are like watching TV on a regular set, compared to a HD set. A lot of people are fine with their regular TV (like me) but I can understand why my best friend dropped over 4g's on his tv, which ultimatly does the exact same thing as my old school CRT.

Some of the people I play with can't fathom how I spent even $100 on chips.

Personally I think I'd rather spend $1,000 on a nice poker table rather than on chips... but that's just me. :)

I say if the samples are good, and you've got the $$ go for it.

I looked at some custom chips for Christmas presents this year, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money.

The chips we use I got from Overstock.com for $25 a set. (set of 500) There are 4 colors and we make up the values at the start of the game. Usually 5, 10, 25, 100... but there's no difference if we make them 50, 100, 250, and 1000. We're still playing for the same buy in. :)

I personally don't like chips that have $$$ values on them. I play with different people at different times, and we use different chip values sometimes.

Color coded is all I need and what I prefer over having actual values on the chips.
