We have recently set up a homePNA network in my house since we have computers all over the place and wiring would be a major hassle. I am getting a new computer which will also be getting hooked into this network soon. I'm using the d-link USB homePNA 2.0 card, and we are going to be buying a
d-link DHN-1000 ethernet to homePNA bride or, possibly, a linsys HPRO200 cable/dsl router, since at the moment the crappy software we are using on the main computer wont allow me to access email, icq, or gamespy on our current configuration.. (software is midpoint lite). Maybe its because I have very little knowledge of networking so I havent got it all configured properly, but at any rate I figure an NAT capable router will be better than the proxy based software, since we will have 4 cpu's going on this network now.

Back to my question.. Under this configuration, will I experience a lot of lag when trying to play games? I read in some previous posts that people with HomePNA networks couldnt play FPS games since it was so bad. FPS games are my favorite! If these HomePNA cards are supposed to be 10Mbit compatable why would there be any serious problems with lag such as I've described??

I'm going to be ordering the router, and my usb homePNA card is already ordered. So if you could reply quickly and let me know if im going to be extremely unhappy with this setup please do!! The card and router are going to cost around $300 canadian together, and for that price I could buy a year subscription to another DSL line if its really that bad! However, thats a last resort, I'd really rather have these computers all networked together if you could offer some insight

(P.S. if it makes any difference, the computer I will be gaming with is only one room apart from the computer with the adsl modem.. would cable-wiring these 2 computers together interfere with my other already-established homePNA network? and if not, maybe that is the better solution for a gamer like myself..?)
