So anyone with a powerline network I am looking for info.

I have read up on Powerline networking and I am still a bit uncertain to how far it goes. I know speed across far distances degrades the speed which is not a big deal, I just need a 1megabit connection. I also understand that Powerline is very similar to the 802.11b standard. With ESSID and 56-bit WEP. So say I setup a powerline network could I share internet to say my neighboor? Or even the kid down the street?

I have a bussiness class DSL line why would it be illegal?

If I can host websites, why can't I share internet access. Shoot 90% of home users with 802.11b wireless inadvertentely share their internet access to anyone within range.

But my ultimate goal is to create a network between me and my friends. We already have on link through directional antennas using 802.11b technology. We have another link that will be connected to our existing wireless network in the works. But the problem is that some of the links we are looking at have no line of sight which makes is near impossible to make a 802.11b network.

But with the current prices of powerline networking stuff, you might as well go with wireless.
