homeowner's insurance question

So, I guess I had a small leak in the kitchen that slowly seeped under the floor. It ruined the floor and some of the surrounding cabinets, etc. I'm not sure how long it's been there - but the insurance adjuster said for awhile. Therefore, insurance won't cover the damages. Anyone have any ideas on what I might be able to do to work with the insurance company?

Thanks

sorry... but no insurance co. will cover something that has been happening for a while or that is due to "wear and tear".
Every policy will cover things that are "sudden and accidental".
It is not the ins. co. fault.
Just like they would not cover a slow leak in a roof or if your water heater just died because it was old.

This actually just happened to one of my customers. It was a leak from her fridge and it ran down in the floors down to the basement causing a lot of water damage and mold, but because it was an on-going maitence issue, it was not covered.
